Children's Privacy & Parental Consent

StoryTime is a service for parents and legal guardians. It is not directed to children, and children may not use it or provide information themselves. This notice explains how we handle a child's information and how you, the parent or guardian, give and withdraw consent — consistent with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and related laws.

What we collect about a child, and why

  • Photographs of your child that you upload — used to generate the personalized illustrations.
  • Descriptive details you enter (first name, age, appearance traits) — used to guide the story and artwork.
  • AI-derived likeness data (e.g. a character reference and face-similarity scores) computed from the photos to keep the character recognizable — never used to identify your child elsewhere and never used to train AI.

We collect the minimum needed to make the book, and we use it only for that purpose.

Verifiable parental consent

Before we process a child's photo, we require the parent or guardian to confirm they are 18+ and to consent to the collection and use described here and in our Privacy Policy. [Confirm with counsel that the consent mechanism used at checkout / upload qualifies as “verifiable parental consent” under COPPA for the data collected, and strengthen it if needed — e.g. payment-card verification as an additional signal.]

Retention & deletion

Uploaded photos and the AI-derived likeness data are deleted within 30 daysof your book being produced. You may review, or request deletion of, your child's information at any time — and withdraw consent — by emailing [PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL]. Withdrawing consent means we stop processing and delete the child's data, though it may end an in-progress order.

No third-party sharing beyond production

A child's photos are shared only with the processors needed to generate the book (see the Privacy Policy) and are never sold or used for advertising.
